Eligible providers and hospitals are encouraged to enroll in the Virginia Medicaid EHR Incentive Program. By participating in this initiative, you can enhance the efficiency of your practice, improve care for patients and receive financial incentives. Eligible providers can earn as much as $21,250 in the first year by adopting, implementing or upgrading to an ONC-certified EHR system and up to $63,750 over six years per provider.

Even if you are an eligible provider or hospital not negatively affected by Medicare payment adjustments, there are good reasons to pursue the EHR Incentive Program. For each eligible provider, there is a bonus under Medicaid for achieving meaningful use. The incentive pays $21,250 for year one and $8,500 for subsequent years.

Hospital incentive payments depend on several factors that can increase your total payment above the $2 million base.
